Introduction
Biotechnology and Microbiology are emerging multi-disciplinary fields with wide and diverse applications. Recent advancements in Biotechnology Microbiology have provided new hopes to mankind for an improved lifestyle and a better and prosperous future. The study of Biotechnology Microbiology has vast practical applications in agriculture, health, environmental protection, industry, and pharmaceutical sciences. The Department of Biotechnology was established in the fall of 2011 under the umbrella of Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan. The department was upgraded to the Institute of Biotechnology and Microbiology in March 2021. Currently, two programs run under the Umbrella of the Institute of Biotechnology and Microbiology are Biotechnology and Microbiology.
The Institute of Biotechnology & Microbiology at Bacha Khan University Charsadda (BKUC) was established with the vision to bring prosperity by providing more efficient ways to grow foods, manufacture commercial products, produce energy, and treat diseases. Our institute is expected to generate Biotechnologist & Microbiologist able to approach problems with creativity and flexibility.
We have a highly qualified faculty with advanced knowledge in their respective fields, as well as teaching and research experience in a variety of Biotechnology & Microbiology disciplines. The Institute provides a responsive learning environment for the students to develop their technical and critical skills. A key element in this preparation is active participation in the process of scientific discovery. To achieve these objectives, the institute offered a diverse curriculum covering a wide variety of subjects to its students including molecular biology, microbiology, agricultural biotechnology, cell and tissue culture, health biotechnology, bioinformatics, and genomics amongst others.
